Woodrow Blaine Rose, 83, currently of Idaho Falls died August 8, 2005 at his home of complications from a stroke. He has been under the care of Hospice of Eastern Idaho.
He was born March 27, 1922, in Annis, Idaho, to Alma E. Rose and Verna May Lufkin Rose. He grew up in Humphrey and attended schools in Spencer. He served in the U. S. Army Air Force during World War II in India where he worked in radio intelligence. He attended Idaho State University and Links School of Business in Pocatello, and the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
On November 14, 1946, he married Yvonne Lovina Freeman in Dillon, Montana. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple October 13, 1962. He worked as an accountant for Eddie's Bakery in Idaho Falls, an office manager for Nelson Ricks Creamery in Rexburg and in Salt lake City as a specifications writer for the LDS church, working on plans for many of their temples and other church buildings.
He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had served as a counselor in several bishoprics, as a Bishop, Ward Clerk, and a branch missionary.
He enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, riding his Harley motorcycle, snow and water skiing, reading, hunting, fishing, and taking friends and family for truck rides on the back roads of Idaho and Montana.
Dad loved his family and left us a legacy of hope, faith and courage.
He is survived by the following: wife, Yvonne F. Rose of Idaho Falls daughters: Pamela (Jimmy) Saunders of Idaho Falls; Susan (Tom) Galloway of West Valley, UT; Ann (Dennis) Shimizu of Salt Lake City, UT; and Jane (Stephen) Cain of Wasilla, Alaska; and a son, James F. (Carol) Rose of Taylorsville, UT; 23 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Thelma (Ralph, deceased) Stosich of Lima, MT; brothers: Dean (Lola) Rose of Emmett, ID; Lynn (Ann) Rose of Idaho Falls; and Roger (Jo) Rose of Hermiston, OR.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant daughter, Elizabeth.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 17, 2005, at the Idaho Falls LDS 14th Ward Chapel, 651 Gladstone with Bishop Melvin Georgeson officiating. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery where military rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veteran's Team.
